ABOUT KATIE
Katie has been experimenting with acrylics for several years, independently as well as in workshops in BC and Ontario. Painting became a priority in Montreal, where she joined The Longhaul studio artists collective. The paintings suggest atmosphere and emotions associated with specific locales, both in traditional landscape and abstract style. Recent works developed during the pandemic explore the constant renewal of life emerging on the old growth stumps of North Vancouver. The Regeneration series of paintings attempts to convey the combination of energy and calm found in the forests as well as the lush layers of vegetation surrounding the strong sculptural stumps.
Katie is an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a member of North Van Arts and the West Vancouver Community Arts Council. She has volunteered at the MacDonald Stewart Art Centre, Kamloops Art Gallery and the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington and is currently acting as Treasurer for North Van Arts. Katie lives in North Vancouver, BC.
